Over the centuries historians have created lists of what they consider the wonders of the world. "The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World is the first known list of the most remarkable creations of classic antiquity" (Wikipedia). The list was created during the Hellenistic period of ancient Greece — 323 BC to 146 BC — and served as a guidebook for ancient siteseers in the Mediterranean rim and Mesopotamia.
